Riff Raff Entertainment

Riff Raff Entertainment is a film and TV production company founded by Jude Law and Ben Jackson. They needed a website. Not a complex one. Just something that represented the company properly online.

What they asked for

A clean, simple site. No long requirements document, no inherited design system, no legacy platform to migrate from. They wanted something that looked like them and worked without fuss.

Most companies at this profile go through agencies. Riff Raff didn’t. I worked solo, directly with the team, which meant fewer people in the room and faster decisions. The whole build took under four weeks.

What I built

A single-page site in Nuxt 3 with content managed through Prepr, a headless CMS connected via GraphQL. The client can update team bios, the hero copy, and about text without touching code.

The visual tone is quiet. Black backgrounds, restrained typography, no flashy transitions. The aesthetic borrows from cinema — specifically, the way a film gate reveals a frame.

Every line of text on the page sits behind a mask. On scroll, each line slides into view from below, one after another, with staggered timing driven by GSAP and ScrollTrigger. The loading screen works the same way: a black overlay pulls up like a curtain, then the hero image fades in behind it. Two reveals, layered.

The team section uses the same animation vocabulary for hover states. When you mouse over a team member, their name and role text slides up out of frame, repositions below, and slides back in. It’s a small detail but it ties the whole thing together. None of this is a library component. It’s custom GSAP timelines paired with CSS overflow masking.

How it’s doing

The site gets over 10,000 visits a month. It’s been live since late 2023 with no major rebuilds. The original build is still running, still fast, still doing its job.

It’s a small site that works well. That was the brief and that’s what got delivered.
